Well as many of you know I work for a bank now. I 've been very busy right off the bat as our bank has recently aquired a smaller bank. So I havn't really been around this week, And I didn't forget your birthday ADAM !!!!!!!! :). I was in a hotel all night on your birthday so I couldn't wish you a happy birthday dude.

I'll give ya a call. One thing that sucks is I can't use instant messaging nor Live Journal or IRC or anything at work due to very strict security poilicies. Also I have to work through the weekend to help merge the banking networks. I know this royaly sucks but I'm in no postion to say no :-(

I wanted to get Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 working under linux on my computer under mame (arcade machine emulator). But there was a problem here is my exciting night
Ok the Mortal Kombat machines you see in the malls ( if they are still there ) run a TMS340000 RISC processors clocked at 6.250000 Mhz along with a ADSP2105 sound processor. The problem is that the processors sync video at 53 frames per second. Why the fuck 53 frames per second ? I duuno sounds retarded to me, anyways no modern computers v-sync goes that low or at least in graphical mode. So what would happen is the game would sync at the current v-sync of the computer ( mines 85 I think ) now this isn't a problem with the graphics it's with the sound because now the sound syncs higher as well to keep up with the video. Now the sound is very distorted and super choppy which slows down the emulation and the auto frame skipper kicks in and the game slows to a crawl. Now if you disable the sound everything is fine the game runs full speed. But that sucks cause you can't hear cool things like " FINISH HIM " or " FATALITY " So I went pouring through mames EXTENSIVE source code ( thank you open source ). And found that I could disable the emulators ability to detect the current v-sync of the computer. With some fuckin around and a few hours of bullshit I got v-sync turned off and mame recompiled. Now the game runs in all it's glory :) MORTAL KOMBAT !!!

Sorry nattie I know I said I was gonna try to come up to toronto this weekend but I'm still very sick .. now half the people in my house are sick with the same thing I have. I feel like utter shit and there is no way I'd make it not to mention I don't want to get you or goeff or ruth or adam or noemi or daneil sick or anybody else that passes through your place frequently. I REALLY wanted to come but I feel terrible and it wouldn't be fun for anybody. :( Hope ya still love me sorry but comin up to Toronto as often as I originally planned doesn't seem relistic until I start workin in toronto again and these damn medical probs sure are stalling me in my quest to get back to you all ..........
